Jane was lecturing in art, textiles and mixed media for 28 years at the Manchester College. She has a BA Honours Degree and PGCE in Textiles, Art and Design and is a practising artist with a passion for her subject. She finished full time lecturing in February 2010 having eventually given in to the dream to create her own work.
“My students have been the recipients of my creativity for many years but it was time to refresh my spirit and seek new stimulation”
She draws her inspiration from the natural world - her passion for gardening, travel and life forms are clearly visible in her work especially the canvasses and in the marvellous use of colours and patterned textiles. Her scarves are marketed as Isadora Loves Scarves, a classical reference to the shape combined with her own contemporary style.
Her Art Pieces are a selection of mixed media combining paint, papers, foils and sometimes stitch. The method used has been devised by her giving a totally unique end product.
Interior design commissions are undertaken whereby clients existing colour schemes are incorporated into her work producing a truly complimentary bespoke canvas or framed piece.
Teaching however, is still very much under her skin and she has established the Creative Workshops in Wilmslow Cheshire where, with other artists and designers, regular sessions are held in textiles, mixed media, creative cards, woodworking and furniture making. It is a fun day out for the novice or an opportunity to improve existing skills.
